Although data and market research takes a lot of my time, it isn't everything...
Myself (Elliot) and my girlfriend had our first child in late November 2023, our son Ember. She's already a great mum (she works in a nursery and has 4 young nephews) and I am learning as we go! We also have 2 cats called Benson & Oswald who cause all sorts of mischief but keep me company during the day!
My passion is definitely football - whether it is watching Reading FC (see below for an ill-fated trip to Huddersfield Town), organising 5-a-side at the Reading dome or watching/writing about a World Cup, I live and breathe it. I've organised a football fantasy league for over the past 20 years (yes you read correctly) with friends as well as one for the charity I work for, Ben Automotive (who are excellent by the way if you work or have worked in the automotive industry). In 2024, I'm trying to swim and gym more although it is a mission!
I also enjoy playing badminton and snooker, the latter down at Lavenders in Ascot which I would highly recommend as a great sports bar if you're ever in the area. I've watched Ronnie O'Sullivan at Alexandra Palace which was memorable. I've also watched the World Darts Championship which transforms Ally Pally into the biggest noisiest pub in the UK. I was very fortunate to be invited along to Centre Court in Wimbledon last summer. But to be honest most of my weeks are more chilled now!
Outside of sports I watch a LOT of television. My recent watches include Safe, The Mandalorian and BBQ Showdown. My girlfriend however loves Grey's Anatomy, MAFS and Great British Menu. I love a food festival - I went to Ascot's Smoke and Fire BBQ festival again this year and I have been to Wingfest in Bristol. I'm also 'friends' with 2 of the UK's biggest Tiktokkers/YouTubers as they CONSTANTLY remind me how many followers they have, Unpacked1 & The Drain Guy, I can't deny their content is great though, so give them a follow!
And back to research - I got into the research world accidentally (as I think most researchers do) when I completed a scholarship for Winchester University working alongside Dr. Karen Blakeley on 'Leadership in Tough Times' (pre-pandemic!). I worked on a literature review and loved the research process. From then on my career was set! I have since worked for Alida (formerly Vision Critical), BVA BDRC, Global Radio, Maru Edr, Ben Automotive and Fern Insight! Along the way I have completed a Winchester University Apprenticeship Programme, MRS Advanced Certificate, LSE Advanced Career Data Accelerator and have had research work published by Ben Automotive and the Radio Centre.
Anyway enough about me - back to work!
